Heater for a small tank.

Many people here have Betta's in 1-2-3 gallon tanks. That is fine by me as they keep their Betta's very healthy and happy. However, I like to keep my Betta Fish (as I don't have many) in bigger tanks like a 5-10g tanks or more.

I recently got as a gift a 2 gallon tank and thought to do a planted nano, but I thought about offering the 2g tank to one of my neighbors. Seems that the are interested in my fish, but don't have any of their own.

I have the tank, filter, but what I need is a heater.

I can't find a heater that is reliable. Some don't self adjust and some don't ever shut off. I don't want to give them something that won't work.

I can seed the filter and they can go and pick out a Betta fish :) I want their experience with fish to be good.

Can you recommend me a good heater for a hex 2 gallon tank?

Thank you in advance.

Would like the heater to keep the temp stable at @ 80F since that is where I keep my other Betta I have.

If you want a heater that isn't too expensive, a 25 watt Hydor Theo would be a good choice. Make sure you also get a glass thermometer, so you can make sure that the water is actually at the temperature that you set the heater at. I had a Theo that had to be set at 82 degrees to get the water to 78 degrees.

I currently have a 25 watt Cobalt Neo-Therm, it was a bit more expensive but it works great!

Thank you very much!

Both options seem good.

Thanks again. I think I will give them the tank though with heater, filter, and seeded media.
