Cory cat, red gills

Wanted to ask some advice for one of my skunk cory's. I've noticed since I broke down their tank and rebuilt it as a NPT, one of the skunk cory's gills have been very red. I did some quick google searches and the two main things were aeration and ammonia poisoning. Did another check with ammonia yesterday and there isn't any. Should I look into an airstone? Any experience or advice?

He tends to stay off the substrate while the others dig around in the sand. Not always, but he doesn't dig around like the others do. Tank is NPT, heated, with an established filter.

And I just realized I put this under habitats rather than the sick forum.

If it is just one and all the others are fine-it may be injury or parasite related.
I would QT the one cory and watch it along with some daily water changes, no salt-they can be a bit sensitive
