Unhappy stress stripes on new beta. HELP

i have my new beta in a divided 10 gallon with no fish on the other side and he has the worst stress stripes.
the tank is not heated but i have lights on it to heat it up.
i need help! i think he is going to dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Not having a heater is probably the issue. The lights may warm the water some, but when you turn off the lights things cool down....causing many temp swings, which are very stressful. A light should never be your main source of heat for a fish tank, there is no way to regulate the temp and you can't keep it on 24/7...that's not healthy for the tank or the fish.
You will need to invest in a heater...50 watt, adjustable, fully submersible. Don't forget the thermometer to keep an eye on the temp ;)
