Why is he flaring up?

I just got this new little cave decoration for my betta's aquarium because I thought he needed more of a 'hiding space' than the plants he has in their now. As soon as I put it in a few minutes later he started to flare up! This is the first time I've ever seen him flare so it was surprising. Its a few hours later now and he is still flaring up and acting aggressive. Is this because of the new cave ornament?

I have a 1.5 gal tank right now so it maybe it seems a little crowded for him maybe, but I ordered a 3 gal tank a few days ago from the Foster and Smith website so that should come any day now so hopefully he will be happier.

The Tetra tank with the light above it? I've got 2 of those...They can see their reflection really well and you just changed the territory. At least, that's what I think. I'm new to all this.

LOL! He's probably just making sure the cave isn't secretly a fish after his territory! He'll get over himself soon! For now, enjoy the flaring! It's fun to watch, isn't it?

Edit: Oh he has been flaring for a while! I'm sure he'll calm down :o Maybe just leave him alone and watch him. Is he flaring at the cave or at his reflection?

Its neither really, he isn't facing the side of the tank and he always has his back to the cave when he flares. Haha well the cave is apparently a "fire cave" so its bright red! Maybe he does think its encroaching on his territory. :)

Do you mean the tetra tank or the 3 gal? The link is the 3 gal but the tetra tank I bought at my local pet shop for like $30, it was a little pricey since I'm a college student on a budget but its very nice. The 3 gal was only $15 with shipping!

Oh man I hope you are right, because the way I see that website, it's just a replacement Bulb for that kind of tank :(

I hope I'm wrong though.
