ANYWAYS... I GOT A AQUARIUM AS A EARLY B-DAY PRESENT!
32 gallons, to be exact. :D
i'm gonna return the heater tomorrow cuz it doesn't work, and it's suckish.
also, i'm getting 2-3 mollies so they can "cycle" my tank....

yes, betta fish. i'm getting theeem with tank matess.
i was thinking of FANCY guppies, some ghost shrimp, etc.
TELL ME IF THEY'RE OK!
also, i need more tankmates. neon tetras? will that combo work?

I've never tried it, but I've heard that Fancy Guppies can be a bad idea as tankmates for bettas, because their big colorful fins make some bettas think they're other bettas.

My male Betta spent 2 weeks at the petstore, In a tank FULL of Fancy Guppies..

It all Depends on each betta's personality they are all individuals, Some will tolerate tank mates, others wont..

Guppy fry is however Very good for conditioning Betta's.

So you have a viable food option there should you get them..

i would steer clear from guppies, also neon tetras, my betta killed 6 in 4 days... he started to eat them and in the end just killed them for the fun of it. if you do opt for tank mates i'd suggest putting the betta in last, they can be territorial

My betta gets along fine with neon tetras, because the neons are so speedy. ^^ and yeah, I put the betta in last.

It varies from betta to betta.. some 'enjoy' or don't mind company as long as there's enough places to hide and you keep the water quality up, and others will tear everything that moves to shreds.

In a tank that big, you could probably get some kuhli loaches! They're peaceful and really cool.

I've done quite a bit of research on tankmates for bettas because I'm looking for some company for my betta and I found that all Cory cats and Oto's are fine for bettas. If you want guppies you can put wild or feeder guppies in with them because they don't have those flowing tails. White cloud minnows are good as well. Some bettas eat the shrimp. I'm not sure how big ghost shrimp get because all shrimp are blacklisted in South Africa but I did mangae to get my hands on 3 0.75 - 1 inch cherry shrimps and they were all eaten (in the same day) by my betta.
Another option is getting a few females which make good tank mates if there are quite a few (4-5 +) of them in with the male. Then he won't just be chasing one female around and tiring her out!
