Two tend gallons...OH BOY!!

I WAS using these tanks for spawning and growout BUT I decided to divide and house my 6 adult bettas in these. I'd split 4-6 ways each, depending on how many bettas I most likely will get for my b-day (aqaubid pair and other fish). Since you guys reccomend 4-6 females for a sorority I can do this with dividers.....just stating that before you get all mad and what not. I have a ton of power filters left over *grin* I just gotta get them up and cycling. I also have two heaters not in use (well one I might need later but I'll just get another preset one).

I'll set them up either this weekend or next weekend, along with two planted one gallons and a planted 2 gallons (those starter tanks with undergravel filters)....also I might det up my 2.5 gallon...possibly divide it 2 ways (it has 3 slits for dividing)...guess it just depends.

BTW I meant 2 TEN gallons...no clue how the D got there... >:[

If you split a 10 gallon into 6 sections each fish will only have like 3 inches of horizontal swimming space! D: You may as well stick them in a narrow vase.
I would do no more than 3 sections for each tank.

Or maybe I misunderstood?

Yeah, I used to have my 10 gallon split of 5 ways...it got a bit cramped, but the bettas were fine.

Yeah they have more room going towards the back of the tank. It's really a lot more room than those Beane Boxes that most breeders use.

that kinda takes the sorority out of a sorority tank, doesn't it? i mean i thought the females didn't necessarily have to be divided at all. xD

I just meant if you can have 4-6 females then you can have 4-6 male/female bettas in a divided...I just thought I'd state that before someone went all physco on me.

Well if you divide the ten gallon in 4, each fish would get 2.5 gallons. That would probably be best.

Well it kindof IS different. In a sorority all the females can utilize the space given my the length of the aquarium. In a divided tank they cant. I guess dividing it in 4 will be ok though. Do know that the more fish you have in one tank the more chances there are for an accident or disease spread to occur.

no more then 4 sections. 3 inches swimming space? thats like if someone told you you had to stay in an area 3 feet wide for the rest of your life! O.O

Well it would be 3.3x10 inches. So it would be like living in a narrow hallway :P any smaller and the fish will barely be able to turn around lol.
