Ok, so I was going to do a fishless cycle and just let my boy Topaz live in the 2.5 until the cycle was complete. But, I just couldn't wait and decided to just do the needed water changes. I know this will mean it may take months for me to get the bacteria growing, and I am fine with that.
Anyway, here is my new tank! It is the Hawkeye 5 gallon from Wal-mart. I just love it!
All the plants are live. The dark thing in the middle on the bottom is an Oak leaf. And you can see Topaz on the far right under his Betta Bed leaf. ;)
So far so good! The light this one came with works perfectly, my plants are beginning to grow! Oh, and you can see my ugly looking filter baffle. I ended up using both a sponge and a plastic bottle. The filter with this tank is pretty powerful!
So, what do you think of my set-up? I will be adding a small Terra Cotta pot soon for a proper hiding place, though for now he does sometimes hide behind the Oak leaves. Oh, and I'll put up a better background eventually. The one there is just a printed picture on regular paper. It's too small for his larger tank. lol!
