Yes and No, The female will carrie more trates then the male in some cases. But both parents share a = roll in the color, body shape, finage, meanness. I've been breding bettas for 5yrs and have found that the male shows the fry more then the female but that's a DUH!! because he stays with the fry for a week or so. Then on the coloring I've found that if your male is red body with a blue under color, then the fry will be more blue. So if your breding bettas from let's say petco or walmart. Your not really going to be able to get a color you want because you don't know the color of the parents. You can how every beable to ruffly guess from the under laying color a % of the frys main color. But as far as finages. it's best if your using a wal mart betta to wait til F3 or F4 fry. This way your more likly to get that color or finage your wanting because you have seen the parents and got to pick the color,finage,body shape from the frys before and there for can bred that show betta.
