Oak (or IA) Leaves - a question

I know that the Indian Almond leaves and Oak leaves have the tannins that are benificial to Betta fish. I have also read that it makes the fish want to spawn.

So, is it good to have the leaves in the tank if you don't plan on breeding the fish? It always seems to make my boy build a lovely bubble nest a day or so after new Oak leaves are put in his tank. But, I don't want him stressed as I will not be breeding him.

Thanks!

You can keep the leaves in.. He will most likely wont stress over the leaves...If anything it will make him more confident in himself.. :]

I don't think anything bad will happen if you put the leaves. I always put Indian Almond Leaves(IAL) after changing the water. The leaves actually can coax your betta into breeding and hence, it will make a bubblenest. :)

the leaf extracts also act like a natural medicine for your betta. it will help you keep them free from fungal diseases and parasites. i believe it also does something to your water pH to make it more favorable to your fish. i make my own tea from the leaves so that i dont have to keep the leaf itself on the tank.
