Do CF bulbs actually work by the way? I'm thinking about getting an ordinary desklamp and using one to grow maybe some Anubias and possibly Java Fern Am I correct in assuming CF bulbs are the energy saving type?

The tank that I am planning on using doesn't have a proper hood, so it doesn't support any lighting system I'm planning on getting the hood for my tank but its a little pricey since it doesn't come with the starter or anything, so looking for a cheaper method for the time being lol

I have a ordinary desk lamp above my tank, I honestly think the light bulb is an LED, and my Java Fern and Marimo balls are still doing fine. I do try to make sure they get some fluorescent/natural lighting sometimes though!

So I think the desk lamp will be ok :)
