My crowntail female won't eat. She is currently in the sorority. I thought she was getting picked on to much, but even by herself she stays near the bottom, and won't eat. I want to quarintine, but i don't have any spare heaters.
Use a small container and float it in a heated tank and start making 100% daily water changes-any other symptoms beside not eating and sitting on the bottom?
The cups with lids that a lot of Betta are bought in are great to use as QT containers...just be sure and attach them to the side of the heated tank so it doesn't sink...but any small container that will fit inside a heated tank will work for Qt and treatments that has a lid or use plastic veggie wrap to cover
Cold dry air can be hard on a Bettas labyrinth organ...especially when they are stressed or sick
Thanks for replying. All the other girls in the sorority are fine. She isn't exactly sitting on the bottom. She is swimming around and occasionaly flaring/ chasing the other girls, she just stays at the bottom. She follows the cories and only comes up to breathe.
Do you have things in the tank that are tall or go all the way to the top in several places in the tank....this help the less dominate fish get to the top without being seen or break the line of sight which is important in sororities.
I have a clump of hornwort and a tower that goes all the way to the top. She actually used to be the dominant female. Then she lost her dominance, and stayed at the bottom. But she isn't the lowest female in the tank.
