Well that's good you tried to ask them :) Glad he's doing better.
You can try crushing the pellets up, or soaking them in tank water for a minute before offering them to soften them up...they may be too big/hard for his mouth right now.

yeah, parent's can be like that. Eventually though, try talking to them again... or if you want... that could go on your christmas list. There are some great quality smaller (but still nicely sized) tanks out there that are relatively cheap :)

With that little tank, you'll want to do daily 100% water changes.

I can relate with the parents thing. I'm 23 and still have some strict rules regarding pets.

Good luck with the betta!

I thought of another angle to the parent issue lol ... try to push the fact keeping an aquarium involves
learning about science stuff & ecosystems. :) show how much you are learning, they'll be impressed,
and buy you whatever you want....or maybe offering to do extra chores, cook dinner, etc ?

Nagging always worked for me too. heh

I'm 22 and can't even have a fish, so I'm keeping it at my bf's, where I frequent. Casper's in good hands and even better hands there. If I'm not home for a couple of days, I sure can't trust my brothers to feed.
