His belly is odd. It looks slightly larger, and like he got his belly scales rubbed off. He was flaring, dancing, and nest building in the spawning tank. And, as if things weren't already bad, when I moved him out of the spawning tank my other HMPK boy jumped out on to the carpet. Now he has raggedy fins, but still acts healthy.


Edit: And the sick boy is my 5 year old brother's. He would be really sad if he died :'(

Sorry for triple post but, It looks like the scales on his stomach have been rubbed off. Also, he can't (or won't) put his ventral fins forward. I think it may be an injury.

It does sound like an injury. Maybe keep his water very clean and add a little aq salt?

He is still in his ten gallon spawning tank, all my quarintine jars are filled up. I will add aquarium salt once I get a quarintine. But yes it is odd no one responded.

I think you should try putting him on a hospital tank/bowl with a little aquarium salt. If he was spawning, it's common for the couple to get injured during the act. I'm sure he'll get better. Good luck!
