Divided Tanks and Communities

So I read the FAQ about bettas and community tanks. I've had a betta in a community tank before, but it was a thirty gallon and I honestly lucked out. I knew nothing about fish and just stuck the betta in there with two huge gouramis and some danios and everyone got a long. Of course now I know that the gouramis were a bad idea heh.

But anyways, to my point. Now I have a ten gallon divided that is up and I'm doing a fishless cycle at the moment. My question is, in a divided tank, could I have say, three zebra danios on each side? Or would this be too crowded? Thanks :)

IMO-Danios don't belong in a 10gal when they have the whole tank to themselves unless it is for spawning and this is due to their swimming needs not their size....Danios are a fast swimmer and zippy fish that need lots of space for their not stop swimming-they are also social fish and need to be kept in groups of at least 5 or more....they won't drop dead if kept alone or in low numbers but they may not display natural behaviors and can become stressed...and a stressed fish is a sick fish and a sick fish can make everybody sick in the tank.......you also could have feeding issues because of the feeding behavior of the Danios..... your Bettas could have trouble getting to the food before the Danios got it........

IMO-in divided 10g tank-not enough room to house any other fish species with the Bettas....shrimp and snails is all I would recommend......

I had questions about that too when I was going to divide my tank so ended up dividing it in three and getting another betta :) I had two African Dwarf Frogs but they both died within a week. I plan on getting Ghost Shrimp soon though.
