OMG Cool eel stuff on Nat Geo last night!

The two shows were "Into The Abyss" and Nat Geo Wild episode "King of the Reefs" about moray eels.

They found out moray eels & grouper actually hunt AS A TEAM in the reefs! The grouper's even do a head wiggle movement to signal the eel that they found a tasty treat, and to get in formation.
This blows old notions of fish intelligence away. Previously, only primates have been seen team hunting w/ a different species before.
They also caught moray's doing a "courtship" dance.
Smart little buggers...some have adapted to living under floating commercial fish nurseries...waiting for the discards to sink down...Why bother hunting? lol

On Into The Abyss, a wildlife photographer rigged a camera to go a mile or more into the fertile uncharted deep ocean....They caught a FIVE FOOT wide CRAB taking their cam bait! whooooa!
I bet there are dinosaur type creatures down there too...

Eels kinda freak me out a bit. but they are very interesting!

The grouper's were so funny with their head bob motion...it was like they were grooving to hip hop music. lol
They went over to the eels cave like "Come on maaan get up, we got hunting to do!!"

One guy got bit by a moray, and his finger never recovered completely...they have some nasty bacteria living in their mouths...but weren't outright aggressive to divers...they have bad vision & confused a finger for a bait fish.

Gah! I wish I could have watched this show too! I now have to go look up eels and groupers hunting together XD

Ohhh the writer DID insult fish intelligence at the end :-/ Boooo....

I also read about a goldfish keeping it's tankmate (another goldie) up when he kept sinking from
an injury. And another one mourning the death of his friend, by staying in the spot the body last was & not eating for a week after.

Awwwe, that is so sweet he was holding him up! and people say fish dont have feelings. PAH!
