I actually heard that they don't get along very well, so I would go against getting some. They're genetically engineered from Zebra Danios, and have been known to be the occasional fin nipper to a very aggressive one.

However, if you keep them in a school of 6+, it does lower their aggression somewhat. That being said, if you have a 5 gallon tank, it's way too small. The rule of thumb is 1 gallon per inch per fish. So say you have six one inch zebra danios. You need six gallons. Then you add a sorority of female bettas...which many recommend 5-6. We'll also assume that they're about an inch, so that's another 5-6 gallons. Realistically, you'd need a 15 gallon tank for everything to live comfortably (taking note that decorations and plants take up a variable amount of tank space). And a lot of hidey holes.

Very good point. I shan't be adding any Glofish. Just thought they looked real neat :p

Glofish are active little buggers, they have the same requirements as zebra danios, meaning a 20 gallon with at least six in a group would be their minimum. If you have a twenty gallon and you're going to do a sorority, make sure there is a hiding spot for every fish.

If you're doing just a small 10 gallon with some girls, othe fish wouldn't be able to fit in, seeing as 4-6 girls would be a well stocked tank.

The one inch per gallon isn't a very good rule, what matters if if your tank is cycled, if you can keep the water clean, and that every fish has the necessary room to get away from others and be active and such.

Was just using the inch rule as a basic example =P There's too many variables to take into account with the rule, but it was in some way a visualization aid to help explain my reasoning.
