Which plants should I grow in these plant only tanks?

My parents gave the OK to start some plant only tanks at their house :) Yay!
They still are afraid to have fish... They are scared they will smell! Whatever. lol

I will be using an 8G tall halfmoon Nano, Eclipse 3G, and Hawkeye 5.
The lights are all 20-50W CFLs.
I'll be making the substrate the potting soil, sand, and gravel dealio shown by OFL.

What is a nice mix of 5-6 betta favored plant types (tall, medium, and short) ?
Also, where should I buy them? There is one store nearby, but sometimes they go 2 weeks without any
new stock, and are kinda overpriced. Is there any seller on AquaBid you recommend?

Java fern, java moss and any type of anubias would work. I just planted my 2g with those and they're doing great. From what I've been told, and have seen for the past week, they are very hard to kill and good for first time planters. Aside from those, I'm not sure. Here's a link to a site that I've heard nothing but good things about, they have a nice variety of plants and information about them. :)

Are you looking for slow or fast growers?

Coffee Anubias is a great slow grower! =] I think it's the prettiest anubias you can get! <3
