Aquabid

What's the difference between the fish on aquabid and the fish I bought at a store? Do aquabid fish have pedigrees? My fish are just as pretty as the ones there, so why pay more?

I have bought all my fish from petco & petsmart & they have been beautiful. I bought my dexter from aquabid & he is a massive tail biter. Im starting to think they sell the fish prone to tail biting to get rid of them so they can sell the rest to the pet/fish stores. imo unless i find something extraordinary i will not be buying from aquabid again. petco & petsmart ect have just as good "better" & they all need love

fish from aquabid are really high quality, and most are from professional breeders. Their finnage, form, colors, etc are nicer than most LFS fish. LFS fish are typically mass bred by some breeders (sort of like puppy mills) so their genetics, fins, and form aren't as good

+1

There is nothing wrong with LFS bettas, they are basically just more common and sometimes "mutts"

I prefer an aqubid betta to a store betta...I know the age, genetics, and I always get a sister for breeding.

But getting a sister and spawning sibling is just continuing someone else line not your own...whats the challenge in that......

You get paper work like an AKC dog with the aquabid Betta correct????? or is it just the word of the breeder and you trust what they tell you and you have never had any problems with spawning, health, DOA's or anything with aquabid fish/breeders and the fish breed true and healthy...... correct??????

Great post!

I would like to think that most breeders keep records of their spawns and....where they aquired their stock....... and how their finnage holds throughout their life. It never hurts to ask.

I think the difference is the genetics... if you buy 2 petstore bettas that look alike, you could breed them and end up with something totally different...

I don't think there is anything wrong with spawning someone else's line if you aren't interested in starting one of your own.
