Lol I was just feeding Velvet a few minutes ago and he got impatient. I was about to drop in his pellets when he leapt out and bit my finger! Do Betta have teeth or something? It was like a little hamster bite, it didn't draw blood. Now my joke is that now that he's had a taste for human flesh he wants more... None of us are safe!

There is a storm going on, and it's making the water evaporate fast! Today Neons water went down 1-2 inches and Velvets went even more Luckily Velvet was due for a water change and I added some water to Neons tank.

Thats pretty funny.....last weekend when my grandkids came over they had a blast with one of my tanks that had 50-60 1-1.5 inch juvies in it and the Bettas will jump out and try to bite them...they all gather up in the corner and jump...fly.... it was so funny watching them and the boys have fun...they would use my homemade food and hover it over the tank and jump for it and the boys would try and pet the bettas and I would tell them "No" and then the fish would jump at them and bite their finger and they are like but they want to come out and play with us....so cute...too bad they can't take one home but not old enough...Yet....soon....but not yet.....

OFL: Lol that sounds hilarious! I can't imagine having 50 or 60 little tiny Bettas trying to jump up and bte my finger! Sounds fun ;D

More good news, everyone! Some of you might remeber Neon had a tail biting problem. Ever since I got him his heater he has been more active and for the moment his tail is growing back out! Yay! =)

Dragonlady: I think it might be affection because maybe he knows that I saved him. Or it was just plain trying to snatch the food from my fingers and missing... I think it was that (=

Ohhh, I used to have a big female like that....she was a jumper AND a biter. Not a good combination when she tought I was taking too long with the feeding.

If I put my hand in my female's tank, she will nip at me. I choose to think of it as affection. She has a tiny mouth, so it doesn't hurt. My male gives a considerable nip when he jumps at my finger for the food on it, but it doesn't hurt. It just kinda feels like a big kiss to the finger. LOL

I love the feeling of betta bites. Pallas will not only bite my fingers but he's a notorious NOSE nipper too. He'll bite my nose if I lean too close to the water, lol. I once had a sorority girl who would clamp on and not let go, so sometimes she would be hanging onto the food (or my finger) for dear life while I unknowingly lifted her out of the water. She would panic, or I would ... and eventually she let go. Funniest thing ever.
