Aquarium salt kills snails!?

Did I just make a huge mistake by putting in 1 tsp of aquarium salt into my 10g filtered tank? I have a betta with fin rot and a snail in there. I just read that it could kill snails, is this true? If it is I will need to know immediately to take him out. I put it in bc I spoke to a lady at petco and she said it was safe to use it in small amounts. The other chemicals I have in the tank are water conditioner and flora pride for plants. Thanks so much if any of you can help me asap!

Thanks, I only put in half the dose so hopefully it'll be okay. I just keep reading all these posts on other forums saying their snails died when they put aquarium salt in the tank and it worried me.

I add 1 teaspoon to my 10gal and the snails have actually mated and now I have tons of little babies! I think it can get deadly if you put alot of salt in...

Oh wow lol. Okay I'm not as worried anymore, I think I'm going to stick to 1 tsp every other day for about a week.

Does anyone know if FloraPride by Tetra Plant is safe for the snails as well? It has iron and potassium in it and is phosphate free.

If you are using salt for a treatment it is important to use correct or therapeutic dosages for it to be effective....small amounts or the wrong dosage can cause more harm than good...starting therapeutic dosage for fin rot is 1tsp/gal....treatment in QT is best so that you can also make the needed 100% daily water changes with the salt...this is very important for healing along with good/correct nutrition.
