If you want to divide, check this out , you can make one really cheaply

Ooooh, if you go to the betta specialist store, pictures would be gobbled up... OwO

lol, bettas are addicting, it's really, really hard to make sure not to impulse buy the little suckers, and honestly once you are bitten by the betta bug, how many bettas you get is limited to how many flat surfaces are in your house, how much self restraint you're able to keep hold of, and how much money is in your wallet (which if you aren't careful can get emptied pretty quickly in this hobby XD )
lol now i gonna have to borrow a camera when i get a ride down there for you guys ;P

and yeah i liken this bug to the herp bug my snake and reptile friends have, quite frankly i only got this one cause i have an allergic landlady ;P ( if not i'd have a little army of rats skittering about and chewing my toenails :D)

Lol. I would love some form of lizard or snake, but my mom detests anything with a long pink hairless tail and anything lizardlike in general. The closest thing I get to owning herps would be by petsitting them.

do what i did when i lived with my folks: offer to remove the tail and call it a hamster ( i didnt actually do that lol) and let mom play with the rodent in question ( nochez was a sweetie dear who loved snuggling in your bra and giving kissehs, i used to keep him with my breeding rats at my old work and would bring him out to visit mom when she came to pick me up, she soon fell for him, caught him cleaning his face like a bunny does, and she LOOOOOOVES bunnies, and it was smooth sailing from there)

as for herps, get one that hides under a hollowed out fake rock all day for when mom walks by ;)

hmm so i got my water tested, you guys told me to get it written down, but it was colour thingies. they didnt test ammonia but the nitrates/nitrites? were fine, but my PH was high. bleh luckally i read another thread saying theyre hardy for the PH. I just hope my clam will be okay, i've been feeding just a teeny smidgeon extra so the clam gets leftovers, but i'll see what else i can do. I splurged and got one of those stupid leaf hammocks, but he still likes to sleep against the heater ( hey i used to do that as a kid to, have a blanket trap the air duct heat and snuggle up..was nice)

any cheap treats bettas like? im very poor, but if it's cheap i like to get a little something extra

They should have tested the ammonia too :P. So, what were your nitrite and nitrate levels... I'm guessing still 0 seeing as you've only just begun the cycle.

hmm, well, if you have raw or steamed shrimp or fish (must be fit for human consumption) you can feed him small bits of that :) I know I plan on taking a small bit of raw fish and steaming it next time my family decides to cook fish for dinner.

XD hmm, well, LFS sell frozen bloodworms, they're not too much for a pack . During the summer, if you have buckets of clean water lying around and get mosquito larve, you can get them, rinse them under clean dechlorinated water to clean them, then feed them to your betta :).

ooo
lol too bad i don't raise feeder insects. waxworms aperantly also make awesome fish bait, and i bet most fish would love them, but i;d have to harvest them real small for a betta, and youd have to raise them yourself in order to get them that small ;p

Check your Petsmarts again. I've been eyeing an Aqueon 10G tank that comes with a filter and a hood for $19.99.
