My new guy is bubblenesting!

My new Crownie started blowing Bubble nests today! I am so happy. It's so cute. He's also really active, in spite of his injured pec fins, which I'm still treating with Aqua salt. I'm so glad I got him. He has already brought me such happiness. And he's SUCH a little dancer. He wriggles at me all the time. He's such a cutie!

Aww, congrats. I haven't had any luck with bettas in the past but I came home on Christmas Day after spending time with the family and Tvarscki made his first bubblenest! Unfortunately, had to do a big water change and it went bye-bye. :( But I hope he builds me another one soon.

Why do males do that even when they are alone? Is it an instinctive thing? Is there anything you can do to encourage them to make the bubblenest?
