Another noob question... how do you clean sand tanks? with gravel you can use the vacuum type syphons but wouldnt sand suck straight up a vacuum hose and into your waste bucket?

I stir gently stir up the sand and then use a turkey baster to suck any waste out. IMO, sand is cleaner than gravel because food and waste can get stuck between and underneath the gravel. With sand, all of that stuff would just be on the top layer of the sand. Also, my ghost shrimps eat just about everything they find. Makes my life easier.
