I wouldn't use an ammonia chemical, just let it do it's thing. These are the sites I used to help me start my tank cycle:
http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm
http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php
http://www.aquahobby.com/articles/e_fishless.php

And I had to say that your female Claire looks just like my female! Except yours is a crowntail and mine is a delta. She's so cute! And the white male is really pretty too. I'm sure they'll make pretty fry someday lol.

i got the light bulb because its the same size and its teh cheapest they had. supposed to be good for plant growth. also got 20 lbs of substrate. got the cleaner pump to siphon for water changes, got fish food for the obvious. got tetra water conditioner. got that mini filter for the fry. im also getting almond leaves in the mail, and i got betta bloodworms. so i think i got pretty much everything i need. i didnt buy the test kits yet because i think just adding live plants will do the job. im gonna get a ton of them. and with that substrate and the good lighting, i think it will be more than enough to get the ammonia out of there in a 10 gallon tank.

If your going to be breeding in the 10g, remember that before you start, the substrate'll have to be removed for the male to pick up the eggs :)

yes i didn't think of that. is it alright if i just add substrate to where the plants are and leave the rest bare? then once it's done i can add it completely?

I have purchased multiple fish from that seller (and his wife) and have always been happy and not a SINGLE D.O.A.!!! :)

Nice looking fish - congrats!

Don't forget a testing kit like the one I showed you, it's essential to cycling. And the one that you posted just changes PH, so it has nothing to do with cycling. It's also not recommended to mess with your PH unless your water is very hard, as bettas adjust pretty well to most water.
