Cycling Tank with Ammonia want to add plants

I am currently cycling my tank with Ammonia and Dr.Tim's one & only I want to put some Dwarf Sagittaria and Java Fern do should I wait till I get the Ammonia levels under check or can I plant them while I am adding ammonia?

And after its all cycled and everything this will be my first Betta should I just start with 1 male and add some tank mates or can I start with a sorority in a ten gal?

Start with a community with one male OR one female. For tankmates I highly suggest corydora catfish. Sororities are risky business.

Plants can be added in at any time during the cycle- they actually benefit from ammonia as that is what they use as food.
