Why?

Well, mt brothers fish seems to have trouble swimming. He lays on the bottom, and if he swims it is with his head up and his tail down. He still eats, begs for food, and enjoys attention, so he isn't suffering. Is it SBD? My two males are acting weird, just laying on the floor of the tank. They still beg for food, and become very active when I feed them, but then go back to being lethargic. Why? Every fish (but my fish I got from a breeder) either recently died or isn't healthy.

I'm a little new here but maybe I can help, or at least get a general idea of what could be causing it not necessarily what it is.

What temp do you keep the water at (or what is it at) and what are you treating the water with?

Yeah, the temp could be the culprit. Also, how big is the tank?
Shameless bump for knowledge!

78 (I have heaters). My brothers tank is 5 gallons and mine is 10 gallons divided. I have never had this many problems in all my 8 months of betta-keeping.

I know what you mean...

SBD makes them float I believe. What do you use for water conditioner and how often are water changes or is the tank filtered? Sorry for these questions I'm just gathering information to help you out a little more.

Neither is filtered and I use API tap water conditioner. I read on bettatalk.com that a short swimbladder makes it so they can't swim horizontally, and a bent one makes them float.

It could be that the water isn't changed enough, depending on how often you change it. That happened with my friend's Betta and she changed it more often and he's more lively.

How often do you change? Or did you change anything recently?
