Not again! Parasites

NEON has internal parasites )= )=

He was the one who was always healthy, and I chose him, so, I hate to admit it, but he is more important to me than Velvet was, and Velvet also died of internal parasites.

How did I find out? I come home, look at neon, and there is a long white poop stuck in him! SERIOUSLY, I really don't want him to die.

Luckily it's not a bad case. Yet. He's still swimming just fine and eating normal, his energy level seems the same as before.

How do I treat this? I never really got a clear answer. I can't do the garlic juice soaked pellets trick, because I don't know that it really works and I'm leaving on a trip in a month. I have maracyn 2, AQ salt, espom salt, ich attack, and metholine blue. Can I use any of this to treat him?

Or should I buy jungles parasite clear tabs? And does he NEED to be fed bloodworms? I don't want to feed him them anymore.

I'm new to the Betta community but I found a couple things might help you until a more experienced person comes along.

I read that doing daily water changes will help and some medicated food.

Or water medication would be good too I assume.

I believe he had the same thing as Velvet, yes? If so just do the same thing you did with Velvet to Neon.

If not, here's what I'm doing for one of my bettas who has the same problem (only I've adjusted it to your tank size, etc)-

-100% water change daily- 1 tsp of aquarium salt for ten days (and then once the ten days are over, keep up with the water changes.)
-Pellets soaked in garlic juice, put in the microwave for 30 secs- helps the pellets absorb the juice. Feed as much as you would normally.
-Try and look for some Prazi-Pro- helps get rid of internal parasites (it does, I've used it and do still use it.
-And Parasite Clear by Jungle is worth trying too. (I've used that as well.)
-Just keep doing this until the parasites go away (probably in a month or so.)

I feel your frustration! I'm having the same problem with one of my boys, and I can't stand parasites...

Bettaslave: I have this stuff called garlic-xtreme for fish (It's kinda like garlic juice). You add 2 drops in a small container of water... no microwaving or anything. Does this work as well?

Hmm, jungle clears up the parasites in a month? Adastra said it would be a week. Rawr.

C4talys7... thank you so much for the link! I CAN treat the parasites with maracyn 2! Does anyone know the dosage for a 2.5 gallon tank (Please give instructions for the full treatment...)

Sorry, I meant the garlic-soaking method and water changes would make the parasites go away in a few months. I was referring to the Jungle product as an additional medicine for the tank. That's only jungle product I use, but only occasionally... I mainly rely the garlic-soaked pellets. THAT will make the parasites go away in a month or two.

And I've never heard of that garlic-xtreme stuff... If I were you I'd use the real garlic juice for the pellets. The stuff in the Garlic-Xtreme most likely isn't just plain garlic juice.

Guess what everyone.. I think it was a false alarm.

I found the Betta poop on the bottom of his tank, and it didn't really look that long at all, and it somehow turned brown.... oops...
