How high is your water?

I've got lids on my 5 gal. and 10 gal. tanks and keep the water level up high enough so that I don't see the water line. I have noticed some folks only half fill their tanks, etc.

What is your preference and why?

I don't have a proper lid on my 10 gallon, so I leave about 1 1/2 to 2 inches empty. In my goldfish tank, I fill it up so i can't see the water line. In my 3 gallon, I have 1 1/2 inches empty because my female is quite the jumper, and there are some places in the lid that she could easily jump through.

I have mine filled up so that there's about an inch of glass visible, no particular reason why.

I fill my five gallon until I can't see the water line, because it has a lid.

My 2.5 gallon bowl doesn't have a lid, so I leave an inch down and have a light cover.

My 5 gal is filled all the way up because of my OCD about seeing the water line >_<

In my 20 gallon I have about 2 inches of glass showing because I have a submergible filter. In my 5 gallon I have about 1 inch showing cause the outflow part goes bellow the rim of the tank. I would love to fill it all the way up!

i like it when the water is above the black lid so you dont see the water line.
