I have been reading up on ick, because i believe my fish may have it as well, but the spots are just on his pectoral fins, and his one pectoral fin has fallen off 1/2 way.
I read that is might be necessary to treat the whole tank, not just in QT tank if it is ick because the parasite leaves the fish scales and floats in the water for a bit. .

ok i had to get a second opinion because i havent had to deal with it before. just this morning i found the little white specks had disappeared from Tempest's fins and body which is a great relief. i am still treating both main and qt tank, Tempest had to be separated because her fins were getting more and more torn by the fights the girls had. its funny because she is the only one who had the specks when she was in the main tank.

Ich is almost always present in fish tanks... it strikes when immune systems are low.

Since she was getting torn up, she was probably stressed and her immune system became compromised.

I'm glad to hear that she's looking better! Do keep treating for the full course, though. :)

yeah i just finished reading that on the link lol i just did a 100% water change about ten minutes ago too on Tempest's tank, i think its best she stays on her own until after the treatment is done. I also purchased acouple more tall plants that can float on top and will place those in the tank once i have finished treatment then re-introduce her on the last water change and see how things go from there.
its been an amusing couple weeks lol

Yes. Ich is a parasite that can latch onto your fish at any time.
