Ugh, I can never do that. Especially considering my siphon tube is all gunky on the inside. I always put my turkey baster at the end and use that to start suction. Guess that makes me a fake fish keeper?

Lol, I've never gotten anything too gross in my mouth using my siphon, but I do start it by sucking on it (I just use a bubbler tube... not really a siphon). If the tube falls out of the water and loses its suction I suck on it to restart it... which has resulted in me getting some fish water in my mouth. :P I never mind too much, haha. If my fish is swimming in it and surviving, it can't be too bad! And people swim in lakes!

I agree! I remember when my brother had his saltwater tank and he was cleaning it and got a bunch in his mouth. It was quite funny. Now I've experience it (thankfully not saltwater). Although, I've mastered my siphon and to get it started I use a turkey baster instead of sucking in!
