meet lorenzo

I've had many Bettas throughout the years, and most living for many years, but Christmas 2009 I got a half moon marble betta (white/purple) and he died just a few months later, to this day I am still unsure why.

On Friday I couldn't resist going to the pet store and they had about 8 red male (vt maybe?) bettas all cooped up in tiny cups and most were very sickly looking. I picked one out and took him home.. After looking at him this evening I am almost positive that he has fin rot, so I will have to start treating that. I am so excited to get his new home tomorrow, with lots of accessories and decorations! (I wasn't really planning on bringing one home Friday, so I wasn't prepared). But he seems happy now and his color has changed even within the last 2 days, he looks a lot more healthy and he has been making a bubble nest all day and he loves chasing my finger around the tank!

Anyway, here he is!
If someone could tell me what kind he is I would really appreciate it.. Also if you look closely could you tell me if the black lining around his fins is fin rot? Just so I know for sure.. Thanks!!

Hey and that Critter keeper is a bit small for him, also if that is a temporary home you should fill it up to the top with only about 3cm off the top.

I cant tell if its fin rot or not, but if his fins are tattered, its probably just from him being at the store. Your best bet, regardless, is to keep his water super clean :D It'll generally just get rid of any tattering :3

Yes its from him being at the store because if he had fin rot then he would have black to grayish fin edges.

He's very pretty. I also don't think he has any finrot from what I see.
