A lot of members use hydor heaters. I like the 50W Marineland Stealth Pro Adjustable Heater, it keeps the temperature nice and warm and is big enough if I ever decide to upgrade to a bigger tank.

where did you guys purchase them? Online or in store? I am thinking about running to PETCO or Petsmart...not sure if either one sells that brand though...

My Marineland adjustable 25 watt works great! I got it at my local fish store. All of the chain stores around me only seem to have the non-adjustable heaters. I also ordered another heater from Amazon, it's the 25 watt adjustable Elite heater. I've heard great things about it, but obviously can't speak from experience yet!

I got mine on bigalsonline.com. Shipping is not bad, and they're on sale for $10.99 right now!

ok cool, thanks! I'll check Amazon, I just checked both PETCO and Petsmart online and didn't see the Hydor brand. Of course they have a few, but the reviews are not so good :o/

I definitely recommend the adjustable 25W elite heater. I have two and they keep my 1 gallon and my 1.5 gallon at a perfect 78F. And right now they are at a very low setting so it should also keep your 2.5 at a perfect temp too. They are submersible and are about $15 on amazon.
