Okay..I'm back. Since I have never used vinegar to clean anything fish related I "googled" cleaning aquarium/aquarium supplies with vinegar. You might want to "Google" the same topic. Most everything I read stated use 50-50 mixture vinegar and water and rinse, rinse, rinse, VERY Well. However, I suggest you look up the same topic as most articles did not mention boiling, soaking, and/or letting sit in solution overnight. I can tell you from nonexperience using vinegar on aquariums/supplies..you need to check to see if it is just a quick wipedown of vinegar-water on the heater or if it requires a soak overnight. Sorry, I really did try to help...Just didn't know about the Girls.

Just for information..You might also want to "Google" cleaning aquarium/aquarium supplies with vinegar and add to the search engine whatever material your heater has been manufactured from, such as: glass, titanium, etc. It might make a difference in using the vinegar-water solution as to time to soak, boil, wipedown, etc.
