Are my fishie's fins normal? :s

Hello there! I'm new to the community. I just got my very first Betta fish yesterday. In fact I haven't even named him yet, maybe you could help me?

What I really am posting here for is your advice on the virtual overall health of my new baby..

I am concerned that there is something off about his fins. I have no fish care experience so maybe you could help me with this too.. Thank you so much.

looks like a combo of mild fin rot, and fin biting to me. you can see where he bit AROUND the rays in his tail, and that huge hole in his top fin says "fin rot" to me. a cure i use, is just Aquarium salt and Indian Almond leaf. if you can't get the leaf, a dried oak leaf(make sure no chemicals were used anywhere near it!), or decaf green tea bags works fine. :3

what size tank is he in? does he have a heater? :3 he's a pretty boy, that's for sure!

How much salt should I use? I have a solution for tap water with almond leaf extract in it.. will this be enough for the leaf part? And what's the difference between aquarium salt and kitchen salt? Don't worry.. I won't go and use kitchen salt or anything.

that's the salt i used to use. :3 it's one teaspoon per gallon. pre-mix it into a cup of water(i use the cups the bettas come in), and add it slowly, over an hour or so.

it should work. is it that betta spa stuff?
