Red face cleaning for filtered tank? newbie! help!

Ok so i have a 5 gallon hawkeye aquarium, and it has a filter that is baffled..
it has fake plants, one house, and two live plants, and one boy (stitch) living in it..
so after time passes, the water evaporates, which i figure is pretty normal?
so how often should i be changing water?
also because the water levels drop, should i just add water instead?
soo confused and feedback would be awesome! thank youu!

I qould change the water every 3 weeks..no more than 4 weeks. By tank water evaporates very quickly, but once the water gets too low you should change it.

For a filtered 5G,i would do a 30 -50% water change a week.Use a gravel vac for the water change and use it to clear all the crud on the bottom of the tank, then refill the tank using treated water that is the same temperature as the water in the tank.Don't forget to switch off the filter & heater during the waterchange!

I have that tank with one betta & live plants. I do TWO 50 plus % water changes a WEEK!!!!

Yes, remember to unplug the filter & heater, then restart them once it is filled back up with treated, like temp water. :)

I'd lean towards 2 50's as well. Until it's cycled, anyway.
You don't have to take him out, just unplug everything, vacuum the gravel (which you can do every other one) and put treated water back in that's around the same temp.

Just try not to suck him up! Sometimes they get curious about the vac..lol.

:)

I agree with Bloo- I have a cycled, filtered 5 gal. I change 20% every two weeks and top off every day. Seems to work well so far.
