5 Gal Hex with GE 6500k light bulb

I was wondering if my 5 gal hex will handle the 13 watt daylight bulb the hood says it handles bulbs up to 15 watts and even thou this is only 13 watt I believe that it really equals out to 60 watts on a normal bulb

I think you'll be fine. Watts is watts. The light equivalent they're talking about is in lumens or light output. So the light is equal to a 60 watt bulb, not the power.

I have that same tank, just make sure the light is TUBULAR. It needs to be. There are many lights that can go in in shape, but the directions require a tubular bulb.
