No expert (they'll chime in soon!) but didn't want you to feel lonesome-

1) Define 'all good' with regard to water parameters?
(have found that people have different tolerance for 'good' lol)

2) I believe you said there's a heater, but there's also an * next to the 78 - so is there some caveat about the heating setup?
(only ask because it seems that the one guy may be acting cold (if he's hanging on the bottom).

Thanks for helping your friend and her bettas!

twitching and itching could be a sign of parasites..
I have heard of people doing a 1 minute ish long "dunk" with their bettas in this situation, using tank water in a QT cup that is highly concentrated in AQ salt to kill the possible parasite that could be causing him to rub everywhere/twitch around (signs he is trying to get something off of him..)

Maybe someone knows the exact dosage//procedure i am trying to get at..

itching, white dot, both tanks.

Does she use the same equipment - buckets net siphon - on both tanks?

We'll start off with the assumption that it is ick.

Jungle parasite clear can be broken in half and used in both tanks.
(jungle ick clear is anti-fungal, fungus clear is antibiotic)

Treating for Ich takes ten days to be sure, you can't kill them in-fish and have to treat the tank so that when they swarm out of the little cyst they get poisoned.

"just about" anything will kill ich http://www.americanaquariumproducts....arium_Ich.html

The reason jungle ships antifungals as an ich cure is because they will kill the ich AND protect against fungus.
Jungle Fungus Cure is actually Furan-2, a broad spectrum biocide but is slow acting.
