There are LOTS of guppy forums out there, Abby. :) BUT - I have guppies, so I will try to help you out a tad. 10 gal. is good, 20 gal. is better, I feed New Life Spectrum Growth Formula in the morning & Ocean Nutrition Formula Two flakes in the evening. Tank temp 78 - 80 is good.

If you get two or three of the same sex, a 10 gal. is GREAT. If you get a male & 2 females (the preferred ratio so the males don't harass the girl/s to death), be prepared to have TONS of babies - no special care required except maybe putting a foam over the intake on the filter so the babies don't get sucked up.

PLANTS - they LOVE plants and floating plants are GREAT for helping hide babies from hungry parents. Guppy grass is really good for this!

Good luck & have fun with them!

Agreed.

They are amazing to watch and, being livebearers, if you have the space to have a set of them it's amazing to watch the process. Plus the fry are so darn cute!
Definitely easy to get over run with babies though.

They are also really easy to care for. No special requirements..1M and the rest female though. The males are constantly interested in mating and more than one female spreads out the harassment.

Enjoy!

if you end up with too many babies just put a female betta in...

My male and 3 fem are happy as can be and oblivious to the darting carnage that occurs daily behind them.

I'd say no smaller than 10G for a trio and betta.

I've got two guppy girls in my divided 10G. Everyone is happy enough, although the lady guppies can get mean as they age. Grumpy, not mean.

I'd been tossing the fry in with the cichlids as snacks. Two actually survived..they are about an inch long! Pretty boys, too.
