NO!?!? Joe was in the boys section in the petstore...but then again i went there today and they had a girl in the all boy tank D: well she can be Jo. :P like my midde name is jordan my mom calls me jo sometimes :)

You're not a bad fish owner, just uneducated! And that's what you're here for, right? There ya go!

PetSmart will test water for FREE! I'd suggest going to do that now unless it's too late then go in the morning. If you have really high levels it's best to do more frequent water changes (many will suggest a single gallon will need 50% DAILY water changes then 100% done ever 2-3 days). While you're there, just spend 2 bucks on a thermometer!

Good luck, I hope Jollette will get better!

It's hard to say. I mean, it could be water conditions... that's what's most likely given your setup. Laughing gave you some pretty good directions.

@Laughing - DAILY? Wow, that's even more than I'd heard before... I am so glad I went 5gal. @_@

oh okay (: yes signed up to GET educated (: . But I hope Jollette(haha) does get better. I still dont know whats wrong hope its just a temperature problem. Yes i have got the water tested at PetCo for free after a couple weeks of first getting my new fish for nitrate/ammonia/nitrite levels. they were fine then. and i will go get thermometer tomorrow morning its 12:37 AM Here (: . Any more suggestions about what could be wrong?

I'd start with what you have, fix the setup and go from there. :) She'll probably be fine.

My Robert is a plakat (short-finned betta). That's him in my avatar picture.

Do all bettas have the little pincher-looking fins at the bottom of the tummy/gills. mine does. maybe that means the HeShe is a boy? idk
