Good? Bad? Ugly? Which of these would you use? For example,

-Tan sand, fern like plant, with first formation.

I don't care, just give me some feedback and decorative ideas!

I like the idea of tan sand, along with 1 fern-like and 1 grass-like plant. I think tacking on a very small piece of driftwood or lava rock would be great to complete the look. I also happen to encourage the idea of planted tanks, as all three of mine are planted and they're doing quite well. A Java Fern and some java moss are really low maintenance. I'm assuming you're working with a 1-2.5 like in your previous post. If you do the 7 of course just add more of the same kind of stuff to it.

I think it would look really cool to get that stone rock cave (the very last one) and place the river rocks in a pile close to it and spread some of the rocks out. It would make it seem like it goes together....kinda like when you see those caves on a beach with bunch of big bolders around it....then either place the grass between the rocks that spread out or around the cave. I like the second sand better than the first

That's a great idea tsoto! And I want to try a planted tank and will probably expirament with it in the future... I've heard java moss is super easy and is low maintenance. I might try one or two plants with the fake ones just totry and I like the idea of the rock set up.

i have live plants and i highly recommend them. i got mine off of aquabid.com and they were pretty cheap for a bundle of floating and root plants.

Ooh aquabid has plants?! Im going to look! I don't think I will use live plants until I put them in their own tanks without the divider but we will see I may just go for it! What's the easiest plant to take care of besides mosses?

I think, if you want to go for a "beach" scene, use the white sand with the tan rocks and the first or third cave. Be careful with buying them online, because the size could be too big for a smaller tank. The plants are plastic and I'm not a fan of. I bought a plant very similar to your last one and used it for a bit in Edwin's section. It torn his fins up, nothing horrible, but I wasn't happy. So I bought a silk plant from PetCo (http://www.petco.com/product/109231/...ium-Plant.aspx) and one from Petsmart (http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...mdn=Fish+Decor - it's a lot greener in real life).

The second one was too long to fit in the tank I wanted it for, so I cut some leaves off the ends and stuck them in some shot glasses and put them in the main tank. As for the plastic plant, I took them out of the base, stuffed them in a shot glass, turned the glass upside down and stuck the first silk plant on top if it in the back of the tank. Basically, don't be afraid to make modifications to your plants/decor!

Goomba- I LOVE YOUR TANK! :D It's so creative, I like the way it's all organzied. I'm thinking of doing a "beachy" scene or maybe use all river rock and live plants, etc. We'll see which way I go! I figure I'll have to experiment some to find out what I really like and what my bettas will like.

Thank you! That is the third version of it, and I am very happy with it. So if the first couple of times you decorate and you don't like it, don't worry about it, just change it and have fun!

I think the beach theme would look awesome! Post pictures of the process and the finished product.

Oh yes I definitely will! Right now their tanks won't look like much but when I put them in their larger tanks separately I will start with the decorating(:
