Thanks guys for your tips, Im still having trouble getting it going, i ended up bringing it back to the shop and it was faulty! Figures haha.

And Intoxicated, whats wrong with asking how to clean gravel?

I think its because people are all talking nasty abot "sucking" lol.

I too suck the vac to get the flow started. I can to it the other way as well but water drips everywhere and makes a big mess.

I am pretty good at getting it going but 10% of the time I end up with dirty water in my mouth haha.

this thread is SO full of innuendo...

siphon sweeper pipe in the tank below water line
hose hanging out of tank below water line with end about a foot above water line
curl index and thumb around hose, pull gently until water crowns over down below waterline then move mouth and hold hose up a little
fold hose then drop end in bucket
use a fold in the hose to turn flow on and off to drop suddenly suicidal betta back in the tank
insert siphon sweeper into rocks, oscilate in gentle circle, repeat
stop before heater hot-area is exposed

Ariel, there's nothing wrong with asking how to clean gravel. It's just what alex and thunderloon said, that's all.

Anyways, I've been trying to find the video that helped me for the past 24 hours so I can contribute to this thread, but can't seem to find it anymore. I'll post it as soon as I find it.
