lol that does sound pretty gross!! However do plants have an impact on the tank...I put in a Anubius (is that how you spell it??) in a couple of days ago...

Yes they do, but one anubias really won't make much of a difference.

ah...might get some more then later down the line...I shall test the water tomorrow however I feel like a right muppet and just absolutely awful as I got carried away and added the fish like an hour and a half ago before I saw your post as I'd had them acclimatizing in the tank... =*(...grrr so mad at myself!! what a ditz! =*(

You can do a fish-in cycle, but I hope you took the shrimp out and did a large water change.

Yes to both! =) well I guess fish in is the way to go now... =( lesson learned for next time! Now I just have to baffle the filter as they ladies get pushed about a bit =(

Lol I always have to baffle my filters too. While the tank is cycling, I would do 3 50% water changes a week to prevent spikes in the levels.

Cool I shall do that for sure!! And I'll be keeping an eye on the levels, testing every two days enough or should I check the levels everyday?? Also my ladies have been nipping should I add some aquarium salt?

If you are worried about their fins you can add a bit of aquarium salt. You can test them everyday if you want, but every other day is fine.
