Will algicide hurt my cycle?

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone could tell me if using a dose of algicide will hurt the cycle in my tank?
If so does anyone have a suggestion on how to control the algae growing on the inside of the glass of my tank.
I have Cories cleaning the substrate and a few shrimp cleaning the decorations but am having trouble with algae on the glass.
Thank you in advance
Harley

Personally, I don't - and will NEVER - use chemicals to remove algae. I just do it manually - MUCH safer that way, IMO!

get an algae sponge/tank cleaning sponge and clean the sides of the tank a run the filter on high to clear out the water
I take my fish out when I do this and do a large waterchange

If you do use a snail use a zebra nerite- Their main diet is algae and they wont eat plants. Your PH just has to be at least 7.6, nerites (luckily) aren't messy snails and they only reproduce in brackish water and they are beautiful.

Snails are fine but they still won't be able to keep the glass algae free, you will still need an algae sponge or razor blade method as maintenance, altho I stopped using the razor blade cause my females are so curious they swarm all over my hand when it's inside the tank and obviously am afraid to nick one with the blade.
