Hawkeye 1 Gal

So found a hawkeye 1 gal at goodwill for... well came out it was only 4 bucks or so cause mom had a discount today. Weeee. Anyways. It came with a... center underground filter thingy I guess? Does anyone have a hawkeye? For 4 bucks I didn't loose anything but was just wondering if the filter was worthwhile or if it was useless.

I think a filter is a good idea, but not a undergravel one... Heaters and filters weren't really made for anything smaller than 2-2.5 gallons. I would just put it in storage for a QT tank and get another tank for a fish (if that's your plan)

It comes with a filter... I think it's a filter anyways. I was just asking if it was worth keeping in there or just tug it out.

Hmmm so Looked it up. I would have to get an air stone to go down into the tube... haha sorry for sounding stupid never dealt with an under gravel filter. So how come they're not good?

For something that small, you may be better off without the filter and just doing super frequent water changes. In such a small space the filter might create too much current. But then again if it's underground it might not be too bad!

The underground filter is useless. I had a tank with and underground filter and all it is is a plate that goes in the bottom of the tank with holes in it that makes all the dirt sift to the ground and rot. Not a good idea.
