Symptoms that he is having leads me to believe he has swim bladder disease. I have him in a small amount of water so he doesn't have to struggle to the top to get a puff of air and I feed him two pellets every other day. Yes, he still eats and poops. My question is this:
He is on my desk here in my office. I have two more boys besides Hendrix. One named Edgar and the other named Earl. Everyone loves my fish but they freak out and tell me that Hendrix is dead. So I have to go through my whole story about how I've googled all this info and he's ok and until he is belly up, I just can't kill him... or can I???
Is it inhumane to have him in this small water bowl, scraping the bottom of the bowl, struggling to get air and eat? It's hard to watch him eat. I'll drop a pellet in and he will look and look at it and then lunge towards it. if he misses, he has to circle around and get a better angle and try again. I think what kind of life is this? My other two are swimming around and loving life and poor old Hendrix just lays there on his side. . . Tell me, would you put him to sleep or let him live out his days? Thanks
