2 Males???

OKay I heard somewhere that there is a way of keeping 2 males together. I might sound crazy, but I swear I heard it somewhere. How is that possible and how do you do it? Thanks!
Just Curious!

There's not a way to do so unless you want to bend your moral code and risk injury to one or both fish.

There are several other species of Betta that can be housed in co-ed tanks, those would be a better option to consider instead of going against the natural aggressive tendencies of domesticated betta.

Doesn't BlakbirdXGyarados have a school of Betta coccina together?

OFL has been keeping fish a very long time and has a very unique set up. I WOULD NOT advise trying that under any circumstances.

Betta coccina are one species of wild betta that can be housed together.

I love OFL's tanks, if I had space I would totally get one like that. Living in an apartment has it's downsides.

I would not recommend trying to keep males together unless you are a very experienced betta owner with a huge very well planted tank.

I have a group of four male coccinas in a 5 gallon tank, but there's a 2 or so inch leaf litter at the bottom they hide in, and they are more talk than fight.

However, no way would I recommend keeping two males betta splendens together unless the tank was at least 30-40 gallons, and so densely planted you couldn't see from one end to the other.

Bettas tend to hunt each other out, even in larger tanks. I have had troubles with my divided tank recently in which my male kept getting in with my extremely docile female. Even with lots of hiding places and a full 20 gallons, he would chase her down and managed to put some nasty tears in both her dorsal and caudal fins. He had no intention of spawning, he just wanted the whole tank to himself.

Two males would be even worse I imagine, especially two unrelated and adult males. Plus, the daily stress of co-inhabiting with a possible competitor and rival would make it not worth the effort.

I'm amazed. I just looked at the pics and can't imagine being able to do it! I just pray none can manipulate my divider and cross it! So far so good....but her set up is amazing, love it.
