Well another day come and gone and still no spawn. The blue pair looks REALLY close but Bubba just won't man up. I'm really happy with the little female though..even though she's been chased and nipped a little she's not lost her bars or her color. I can tell she's starting to get brave because she's beginning to challenge the male instead of backing down.
I had to share this.. earlier this afternoon I went to check on them and Bubba was swimming under his nest and the female was on the other end of the tank just sitting amongst the plants and all the sudden she yawned XD.. she looked so bored haha.
The other pair is still chasing. The female isn't so timid and will flare back at the male but he's still chasing her away.
They've got until I get home tomorrow at 12:30 pm to spawn. After that I'm separating them because I won't have any time on Sunday to keep an eye on them. I'll recondition them and try again after I've moved if that happens.
I'm thinking that I'm being too hasty in releasing the females. Quick release has always worked for me in the past but lately it's just resulted in very slow spawning, if they spawned at all. So I think my next time out I'm going to wait a full 2-3 days before releasing the female and see if that speeds up my spawning times or not.
