start treatment or wait?

so I just got a new ct named Cecil yesterday, and was originally just planning on doing frequent water changes, but now that he's swimming around a bit more, I've realized his fins look worse than I realized. he's got quite a few red tips, and most of the rays on his anal fin look pretty deteriorated. so should I start some aquarium salt, or just keep an eye on him and start if it starts looking any worse?

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? hasn't eaten yet, but my other boys get a mix of top fin betta bits, hikari micro wafers, frozen brine shrimp and frozen daphnia
How often do you feed your betta fish? twice a day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? haven't done one for him yet, but was planning on doing at least every other day 50% and weekly 100% due to the fin damage, but I'll do more if needed, never dealt with fin rot before, so please let me know if I should
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change?
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? prime

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? bloody scraggly looking tips
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? seems active, exploring, occasionally getting mad at the tank wall when he bumps his nose into it
When did you start noticing the symptoms? saw the red when I brought him home, but wasn't sure if it was his coloring or damage at first
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? just clean warm water so far
Does your fish have any history of being ill? no clue
How old is your fish (approximately)? just got him yesterday

Yes, I would start treating him right away. Do you know how to treat finrot?

I know it's aquarium salt for 10 days, daily water changes, think I've seen a couple different dosages, so not completely sure on that

hmm, looked through some older posts and looks like they're all saying 1 tsp/gallon, going to mix some up now

Aquarium salt can help but Harleys been fighting fin rot for a while and salt didn't work for him (but it has for others). He has been getting better recently (been fighting for 6 weeks!) due to daily water changes (in a 1g QT bowl) and using 1/4tsp of baking soda with each change (someone here also had luck with it so I thought I'd try it). I also recently got some stress coat (another recommendation for a user here) for him which seems to be helping (or at least not hurting). Water changes are the best defense for and best offense against fin rot. It looks like it may be pretty advanced (at least in the tail) so medication may be required but I would try these things first. Good luck!
