We're getting a puppy!

Yey! Lenore loves our in-law's dog, so we are finally able to get a puppy :D She seriously wants to play with the dog 24/7 and giggles when mouthed and licked.

This is our future Mini Australian Shepherd, Blue Merle coloring:

We'll get to take her home in a few more weeks!

Congratulations! New puppies are so exciting, and she is absolutely adorable! My mom has a blue merle collie, I absolutely love that coloring.

omg! how exciting! I work at a pet shop, and I am one of those .. sticklers about dog food! research good quality dog food, or youll be paying for dental bills and problems down the road! I recommend Wellness Puppy, or Blue puppy. I feed my pit bull Natural Balance and he has alot of food allergies from poor breeding (he was a rescue but idc).

!

I am also a big stickler for great quality food! I use to foster cats and the rescue would provide Iams, but I always bought them Wellness or Solid Gold. I was able to help one of the cats gain weight when no one else could! The food is vitally important to their health :))

Congrats! Puppies and dogs are so awesome. (My pups laying next to me right now.)

I agree about the dog food. I fed my dog Yugi Purina Puppy Chow and he gained a lot of weight were it counted quickly. (He was a rescue at about 10 months old and so emaciated you could see his bones. We gave him anything we knew was safe to help him gain weight and now he's a healthy rambunctious sheperd/pit mix.) Post lots of pics when you get her home!

I definitely agree with the suggestions about food! Quality food is so important to the health and well-being of a dog. I always suggest foods with named protein and fat sources and quality grains (unless grain free, which is also a good option); without artificial colors, preservatives, fillers, or by-products. There are so many brands of dog food out there. Researching the right food can be daunting, but having so many options is helpful in finding a quality food that will fit your individual dog's needs.

It's a shame that a lot of people don't care about what they feed their dogs. One of my neighbors feeds her dog bread, candy, chips and other stuff and she wonders why the dog is fat and has bladder problems.
