Plakat compared to a normal Betta

Recently I was in Petco and noticed a Half Moon Plakat. How are they different then the normal long finned Bettas? (sorry I called them normal) I really like how look just looking for some info on them.

it's all in the tail and body, i think. i do think long-finned bettas are thinner than PKs. at least, my female veiltail's alot thinner and longer than both my PK female, and my HMPK female.

Plakats do seem to have thicker bodies, yes. but the man difference is the shorter fins. The fish are certainly male, but they have the shorter tails, like females do. I currently own three plakats and they are all lovely, active little fish. I didn't think I'd like them so much, but they are def my favorite now. C:

I really like the plakats, too - I have a female CT, but would if I would ever get a male, it would be a plakat. Shorter fins and stockier body.

Plakats are thicker bodied (something I like in a fish) and short finned. They resemble the fighter bettas more than long fins.

I'm stuck! I really like the look of Plakats and I just saw a really nice King Betta. Am I right in saying Plakats should be kept the same as a long finned Betta.

Yup. There is no difference in care among different strains...different species is a whole other deal.
